There are situations when, despite an artist preparing several versions of a visual element (in this case, a logo), the client ultimately chooses a different option than the one the designer personally feels best conveys the intended message. The rebranding of the European Circus Association was such a case for me. I approached the task of designing the organisation’s new logo as a serious professional challenge: it was preceded by lengthy preparation and consultations, and in the end at least a dozen different versions were presented to the decision-makers. I must admit that I personally had a different favourite design, but this in no way diminishes the joy of having been entrusted with creating the ECA’s new logo.
